“Do you want more hot water?”

This is the regular call of Lasse at midnight in the woods: to feel clean after two days of wild camping, nothing better than a bathtub placed among the trees filled with indefinable colored water heated by a wood fire. If we can not tell the color of the water, it is because it was dark. We spent there one of the best nights of our trip.

It all started an evening, when not knowing where to put our tents, we knocked on the school door in a large village (5 people living there including one angry bird). There Mika (Swedish unusual woman and not an ordinary singer) told us to put the tents in one of her fields. That evening, while removing the bathtub of her barbecue so that we can cook, she explains that with her horses, cows, rabbits, sheep, ducks, the chickens, her cats, her hunting dogs, her guinea pigs (Dave and Elvis), her husband, her two daughters and her garden they can live as almost fully autonomy. She let us taste fresh eggs, fresh milk and homemade feta cheese. She is also a talented painter.
After this unforgettable and fantastic stop at her home, Mika gives us the address of a friend of her who lives on our route.
So be aware that our route also passes through paths that do not exist on maps. Give you 10 dollars if you find:
1 – Dyhult
2 – the path to get there
Dyhult is this large 3 people village(no school) in which live Lovisa, Lasse and their daughter Ulla. If the meeting with Mika was great it was the equally:
After passing through their garden with happily intermingle hens, tractor, bus, sheep, angora rabbits and other broken cars (Lasse was repairing a brand new Citroën telling “I hate cars!”) we plant our tents . So that night we take an outdoor bath punctuated by Lasse saying with an inexhaustible verve “Do you want more hot water?” accompanied by a bucket of water in a huge woodfire heated pot.
The best bath in our lives.
There Driss has also found happiness with a small tractor and carrier. Lovisa and Lasse also offered us vegetables from their garden and a huge breakfast.
We also discovered with amazement the illustration talents of Lovisa and her exhibition project of photographies of her friends with her chickens (including ourselves) to be held in his barn next summer. Promise: we will come there for the exhibition in the barnyard.
Lovisa, too, contacted one of her friends so that we could pitch our tents in his backyard. That’s how we end up at fika (a kind of Swedish tea time) around 18h in Mattias, Jessika and their three children Olle, Nora and Sixten’s house. A charming family hosting us for a night where Driss discovers with joy the many children’s toys. True to the Swedish kindness, neighbors give us upon departure some cakes they just prepared.
This has the effect to warm our hearts and to encourage us to hit the road in the pouring rain… Direction: Joacim’s home, a couchsurfer.
After a rainy afternoon we arrived in a popular neighborhood in Norrköping. In the front of the gray building we regret fields and animals and we wondered if this urban stage was not an error.
QUE NENNI, DUDE!
We entered the fantastic world (and very Nintendo-like) of Joacim, Magdalena and their daughter Leia (like the princess-do not confuse with Chewbacca-).
In the living room Joacim proudly showed us the coffee table he designed with his father, replica of a Nintendo NES controlpad, and it works DUDE!
Joacim is passionated, his apartment is a real museum:
– Oh climbing wall above the bed!
– Oh all Nintendo consoles!
– Oh all Nintendo accessories! Even the Power Glove!
– Have you seen the collection of board games?
– Look there is even a collection of miniature volkswagen vans!
– Oh not only the princess, there is also plenty of Star Wars toys!
Obviously we spent the evening playing: still unforgettable!
The next day the weather was clear, we hit the road, where we heared a surprising call: “I fixed my car !!!”
It was Lasse who passed us driving his repaired Citroen car…
